Macrolepiota puellaris (Slender Parasol)
Macrolepiota puellaris – Edible

Coniferous, mixed, damp, grassy forests. Summer, autumn.
Fruiting bodies medium-sized. Cap 7-8 (10) cm across, white, yellowish, scaly. Gills white, when old brownish, with a soft pink tinge. Stem 7-12 (15)x1-1.5 cm, white, when old brownish, with a white ring. Flesh white, with an unpleasant smell, not bitter. Characteristic features: fruiting bodies white, cap scaly, gills turning brownish when pressed. Grows several or even a dozen or more fruiting bodies together. In September 2004, in the Dubrava forests, Šilėnai forest district (compartment 66, sub-compartment 14), in a planted spruce stand (50-60 years old), hundreds of fruiting bodies grew in every row of spruces, under every tree. Perhaps this was influenced by the huge spruces whose branches had not yet interlocked. This was more likely some kind of anomaly, since the fruiting bodies were also considerably smaller. Edible, but of low value.
