Powdery Piggyback
Asterophora lycoperdoides

Dead fruiting bodies of brittlegills and milkcaps. Summer, autumn.
Fruiting bodies tiny. Cap 1–2 cm across, hemispherical when young, later flattened-convex, white, as if mealy, eventually turning brown (from chlamydospores), cracking, the margin bent downwards. Gills distant, thick, narrow, disappearing, or only rudiments of them are present. Stem 0.5-3x0.3-0.5 cm, usually bent, white, downy. Flesh thin, whitish, fragile, with an unpleasant smell of flour. Characteristic features: grows only on dead fruiting bodies, most often of brittlegills and milkcaps. Warmth-loving.
